Our plan

IFBLS is an association of national societies in 38 countries, representing more than 240 000 Biomedical Laboratory Scientists worldwide.

IFBLS Strategic Plan 2022 2026Established in 1954, The International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) is the world's widest reaching international organization for Biomedical Laboratory Scientists, bringing the profession, the professionals and health priorities to the world stage.

With increased opportunities for easy communication across borders and continents, IFBLS has exciting possibilities to continue to develop and grow.

IFBLS is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in official relations with the WHO, and over the recent years this collaboration has developed as IFBLS is invited to give more direct input to WHO policies and guidelines.

The following strategic plan outlines our main goals and tasks. The goals are long-term, with detailed tasks outlined. Some of the tasks are ongoing and open-ended, while others have a measurable outcome. We have highlighted the key actions already ongoing under “Our next steps”. Some of these tasks will be continued, while others will be finished.

In addition to the tasks mentioned in this plan, we also follow up tasks outlined in our By-Laws and as required by our members.

Only by working hard and with assistance from our members, IFBLS will continue to strengthen its position as the Global Voice of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists.
